Selling on the WebI've been selling on the web for a few years.
I have over 500 hundred visitors a day.
Obviously I won't give all my secrets away , however the tips below will help.
My knowledge comes from experience and a life in
Computing for 10 years before changing career to become a hypnotherapist and composer of specialised relaxing music.
When you design your page, remember people still use modems, so be careful not to go over the top displaying lovely beautiful photos.
Your webpage should load in less that 8 seconds on a modem otherwise in many cases they customers will give up.
Ignore using animations and flash on your front page or introduction. They look great, however the search engines can't read any text in them and you really want to appear in the search engines to get traffic.
Don't have silly gimmicks of music playing on your website. A lot of people will find the website from their work place and they don't want music blasting through the speakers.
Get your webpage added to dmoz it is the most important directory.
You need to add links to your webpage but don't add every directory you can find, find specific directories or even better write articles with links to your website on it.
Search engines love content the more relevant text on your webpage the better.
Make sure when people shop on your site that it is simple, show postage costs clearly.
You might find ebay a better place to sell your items if you find the whole idea of having a shop on the web too complicate. I have sold thousands of CDs this way, I can give you advice in this area.
If you want to have adverts google ads is one of the best places. However don't pay more than 10 pence a click unless the item you sell has a very large profit margin.
To prevent junk email you will need a few email accounts. Don't put your email address on your website unless it is encrypted, the alternative is a form.
If you have a small site and want some specialised help at a low price, contact me at the top of the page.
Simple advice prices can start from only 20 pounds / 40 US Dollars
Warm regards
Charles Vald
