What makes you Laugh?
[Back]
Laughter is great for your health.
So what makes you laugh?
Lets get the ball rolling.
A good movie like the [b:e821e5281d]Life of Brian [/b:e821e5281d]will always bring a smile to my face.A funny book.
Terry Pratchet discworld books usually makes me laugh.

Funny incidents that happen. Being with really good friends and having funny conversations about things. (Izzy)The best way to get a laugh is not to take yourself and life too seriously. Whenever I'm going through a problematic/irritating episode I remind myself that, with the right slant, it will make a very funny story to tell in the tea room at work! Not that I always take my own advice of course (and very rarely at the time!) and some things that happen are too serious/sad to be funny however it is quite an effective method for cutting difficulties down to size. (Linda)
I do love simple things...
The laughter of others at my feigned ineptitude makes me laugh..though I keep it to myself...it is even funnier if those that find my antics amusing attempt to disguise their smiles..
Life is actually full of humour..small practical jokes that dont hurt anyone are sweet to me..
Our house is one of laughter..when this is lost a great deal is lost..
Television does provide much humor of course..but for me real life humor is the best..often subtle ..sometimes missed..but so valuable... (Quest)Laughter is a real tonic . . . to laugh literally lifts the spirits . . . many things make me laugh . . . I have laughed so hard that I have been in tears and thought I could laugh no more and then been taken beyond . . . you’ve heard of the phrase “wet yourself with laughter” . . . I’ll say no more!
I find all sorts of things amusing . . . usually those things that I don’t see coming, rather than a joke with an obvious punchline . . . perhaps a comment that can be taken in a way that it was not originally intended . . . and I love comedy films.
I often find that something tickles me so much I am giggling away for hours about the same thing! I think it is something to do with having a good imagination!
Keep smiling :D

Hello Blue Fairy,
Well your posting certainly gave me a giggle ........ thanks! I'd just put the phone down from my dear old Mum's weekly phone call and I was in need of a release of tension!
Its amazing the things that can make you giggle I think it is, as you say, being blessed with a good imagination and not being afraid to give rein to the 'child within'.
Sometimes it's the only sensible response when something has gone badly wrong. In those circumstances it's usually labelled hysteria but I think it's natures safety mechanism. For example we all giggled helplessly at work a fortnight ago when we were told that the computer clitch was a lot more serious than at first thought.... a series of mistakes and errors meant that in all probability all data for the last six months had been lost! We kept looking at each other and saying "this isn't funny this is serious" before being overtaken by a new wave of giggles. What else could we do? Cry? (Linda)Hi,
one thing guaranteed to make me laugh is hearing my boys laugh,it's fantastic, and hearing a baby get the giggles is lovely,
love,
Ros xx :D (Ros)I find with our little one his ticklish just under the shoulder blade.
And laughter does produce laughter, us adults laugh far too little maybe we need more fun comedies on TV. (charles vald)[quote:780f5013ff][b:780f5013ff]Linda Posted: Fri Jun 24, 2005 8:11 pm [/b:780f5013ff]

Linda . . . you are most welcome! Made me smile to know I helped!
Ros and Charles . . . I agree . . . there is nothing more pure than a child giggling or laughing . . . guaranteed to be infectious! My eldest is too often so very serious - to hear him laugh is the most wonderful thing!
:D Blue Fairy x (Blue Fairy)My beautiful 18month grandaughter has me in stitches. She is funny in an unintentional way but is now developing a great sense of humour and to see her face when she is playing a wee joke on someone fills me with a happiness that is beyond words. [u:dd594506f7]life is sweet[/u:dd594506f7] (magsdom)I remember the first time my eldet son got the giggles (other than being tickled that is) I was holding him on my hip while I dead-headed the roses and everytime one popped off he giggled like anything. It was so nice that I felt tempted to pull off all the fresh blooms as well. :D . I've often wondered why he found it so funny, the memory can still bring a smile 29 years later. (Linda)Aw Linda, that's lovely. My son (18 months) was running down a steep hill for the first time the other day and he found it the funniest thing. I think he loved the out of control feeling of your body going faster than you planned when you run down a hill. Not only did his laughter make me laugh as well, it also brought back memories of running down hills as a child.
Thanks for sharing
Rachael (rachael)For me , it is the unexpected happening, like this morning.
We have a big garden with about a dozen currant bushes of all colours. The birds love them, but only at the red stage. Once the black o0nes have turned black they are ignored and the white ones are never touched.
As my mother no longer manages them, last year I just netted half of the bushes for my use, leaving the rest for the birds. This year they started to turn red over the weekend and I have seen the blackbirds starting to fly off with a bright red berry in their beaks. There is one greedy female, trying to keep them all for herself, chasing the others away.
About an hour ago there was a terrific racket out there. I really though the cat next door was causing mayhem and dashed out.
There was this blackbird chasing a magpie out of the apple tree overlooking the fruit bushes. She chased it full about quarter of a mile, at full voice, before returning to carry on eating. If it is the same one as last year, she challenged me when I went to pick some.
Love and smiles

Now I have to confess, being in a menopausal state and not having the strongest bladder in the world, I can fully relate to you on this one my dear!!!! (Purple)well
there are so many things that make me laugh
i dont want to miss any opportunity of laughing all my life
it brings those happines back to us and makes us remember the best times i have had together with my loved ones (bluefin)Mutton dressed up as Lamb! ;) LOL (kiwiangus)Hi,
I teach in a church school and each Wednesday we have to go to church. Normally, I'd associate church with total boredom and indoctrination. Anyway, it is the highlight of my week at work, at the moment.
The vicar always asks the children questions and there is one little boy in my class who likes to answer them. Of course he is the nutter boy of the class, and if I were the vicar I'd avoid asking him anything.
Anyway, last week the vicar asked them to suggest things that were sins. So most of the children said the usual: fighting, lying etc. Then my little friend puts his hand up very eagerly and comes out with strangulation and murder!
Then this week, the vicar asked them what they would to say thank to God for. Well this time, my little friend decided he'd think about that one carefully and so kept quiet. He moved onto another question totally unrelated when the boy puts up his hand. The vicar (stupidly) picked him again and he came out with steak. The vicar looked a bit puzzled and asked him, you mean like steak and chips? The boy was like, yes steak and chips, as if the vicar was a total plod.
It's so funny, I look forward to the next thing he comes out with, although it's hard not to laugh out loud. (Izzy)The innocent comments from my daughter (age 7 at the mo).
