Time out

I think it's always important to take time out for yourself and be a little selfish every now and again. So, what do you do for a little 'me time.' Personally, I'm a good book and a block of chocolate (preferably Green and Blacks) girl. RachI also think that timeout to yourself are good for the state of mind. When possibly, I always do a little "get away" to somewhere where I can completely relax and forget about things. (bertie)

I agree, everyone needs some self-indulgement time. I spend a long time in a nice hot bath, take a long nap or read a good book for hours. (Izzy)

I fully agree and have lots of favourites, depending on the weather and season. They include Lazing in the garden with my head in the dappled shade of an apple tree so the sun is not in my eyes. Paddling along the beach at low tide with the waves between foot and knee height. Strolling though woods in spring or autumn enjoing the different colours and energy of the trees. Sitting my a mountain stream, watching and listening to the water bubbling between the rocks and an interesting book in my bag. Stretching out on our old sofa, beside the window watching the cloud formations go past. Giving myself a Reiki treatment with any of my 5 top favourite cds playing softly in the background - Hey Charles, 3 of those are still yours and still played most days. Plus many other ways Love and Light Joy (JoyB)

Thanks Joy, Which 3 CDs of mine are in your top 5. (charles vald)

Hi Charles Singing Bowls is No. 1 since I first played it. For myself and also popular with clients. "That is the most powerful music I have ever heard" "It takes you to unknown places" "It takes me deep inside of myself" are just a few of the comments. Also it can be listened to for a short while or right though - left on repeat when I am giving treatments. Reiki Ongaku is great, apart from the water track and bird song. These are fine if the treatment is finished but not if one is still working. Also I like to have similar sounds playing while treating similar areas of the body. I do feet first then head, then treat down each side of the body in turn. I have yet to get the music in sync with this . As one lady said, she wanted to get off the table and go to the loo, when the water track started playing, before I could get across the room and press the skip button. I love Music of the Chakras, however it is best if I have a long time without interruption - this does not happen often. I could do with playing it backwards as there is often tension in my head if I have to leap up and go to Mum as the music is working at throat or brow level. Blessings Joy (JoyB)

Time out...ah yes...a rare but wonderful thing in my life! I like to read in my hammock in the garden, early evening, just after my children go to bed. Lee(my husband) and I had a weekend away when our first son was nearly 5 years old,the first time ever, and it did us good...we had almost forgotten who we were,if you know what I mean, having said that I would not swap my lifestyle for anything and I consider myself very lucky to have my two beautiful boys. Another time-out hobby of mine is painting/drawing,I am no great artist but what I draw I enjoy and it's special to me, love, Ros xx PS-I agree with you Rach re chocolate, but as you know,I am a Cadbury's girl!! xx (Ros)

I find it hard to have ‘me’ time . . . but I love nothing more than a wallow in the bath with some reading matter . . . door shut on the world . . . candles lit . . . and loads and loads of bubbles! I also love walking, exploring the countryside or strolling along my favourite beach . . . I always feel completely re-energised for the experience. I confess to have been a total choc-o-holic at one point in my life, but horrifyingly my taste seems to be changing . . . so chocolate is now reserved for when I feel sad . . . real comfort food or should I say comfort eating?! :D Blue Fairy x (Blue Fairy)

I am not very good at doing this but am getting better. have recently started seeing a Psychology student recommended through my GP to assist with my low self esteem and relationship difficulties with my mother and part of this work has made me realsie I need to start to look after myself and have some me time. So here is a start by spending time on this forum, just for me and not my family!! :D (Purple)

I play music - Bodhran, Guitar, Harmonica and Didgeridoo. Recently played at a didg festival on the main stage - very good 'ME' time. It was the whole weekend away camping and playing. Very very relaxing. (James)

Well, this is a synchronisitic post for me - I have decided that September is going to be 'Me Month'. You know, I've actually forgotten what I used to do, pre-mum, pre-wife, pre-all those labels that take over our essence if we allow them to. Not that I resent my life *at all*; I'm truly blessed, but I'm aware of becoming a martyr sometimes and losing track of me in the midst of it all. I am very bad at taking time for myself - was bought up to believe that this was self-indulgent, lazy and 'bad'. (i'm rapidly trying to de-programme that one, because it is certainly not *my* conscious belief!) So, I was trying to write a list the other night of all the pleasures I love indulging in and came up with a few: -) music used to be a major part of my life and I really miss it. So I'm going to play more and listen to it more.I love dancing around the house to loud music. -) Having an uninterupted bath (unless I choose to invite dh :D ) with lovely essential oils -) lighting the fire and staring into the flames; being rather than doing. -) having a massage, healing session, reflexology session or reiki treatment - I'm going to start having one once a week -) Reading a great novel where I can be totally absorbed - Marion Zimmer Bradley is one of the great authors for me That should keep me going for a while  wingsoflove (wingsoflove)

Good Luck then - hope you can stick to it. :D (Purple)
