Hypnotherapy up-date

Hello everyone Just to fill you in on my progress , i've 3 clients coming next week ( not paying of course just practise ) and i'm very nervous incase it doesn't work ! I will be doing plenty of practise over the next few days hoping as the sayiing goes 'practise makes perfect ! any tips as usuall will be most welcome kind regards DebbieHi Debbie, firstly let me wish you good luck with your 3 volounteers next week. That's how we all started.... You say that you are nervous as it may not work. It is not a valuable suggestion to give to yourself, rahter change it to your hope that it will work. As soon as you approach the issue thinking/fearing that it may not work, chances are that it won't. In any event, I'd like to know from you, how exactly are you going to check and see if it does or doesn't work? Testing? seeing if the post hypnotic suggestion works? Trance signs? Aaron (rontje)

hi Aaron Thanks for your reply, sorry about the negetive phrase 'what if it doesn't work' i will re-phrase that by saying i've every confidence in myself and things will be just fine , that better ? Going off what my mentor has tough me i will be looking for facial exppresions ie relaxed musles slightly dropped jaw . when i myself are under hynosis i have a tingling sensation to my feet and limbs does the hypnotherapist know this or what i mean is there any signs i have this sensation ? Can you please give me any suggestions that will help me know if the client is responding to my instructions . As i have said earlier i have had no luck with members of the family so i'm hoping these subjects will respond better Anyway thanks ever so much for your time and like i said any suggestions is most welcome kind regards Debbie (our-kate)

Hi Debbie, re negative phrase, the point is not that you are unrealistic about your abilities, but rather stating things positively then negatively. The reason I mentioned it, is for you to understand hypnosis better. As you may already know, the subconscious mind understands things by images and pictures and not by logic. So when you suggest to yourself that you fear it may not work, your logical mind knows very well that you intend to succeed, but your unconscious sees what picture? Well, it sees the picture of 'not succeeding' since the word 'don't' has no picture if you understand what I am saying. If I would to tell you not to think about an elephant, you will automatically think about one. The reason being, for in order not to think about an elephant, your mind must first think about one and make a picture in order to know what not to think about, making sense? And you don't want a picture of not succeeding in your mind, since such beliefs tend to happen. This is the reason why hypnosis is such an effective tool, we can change those pictures and therefor the behaviours of people. So for example, in hypnosis, you would never want to give a suggestion that has the word 'try' in it. As trying implies the possibility of not succeeding - that picture is made. Now to your succeding next week, lol. No, your hypnotherapist cannot see if you have tingling feelings in your legs. But he can see the trance signs on your face, and assume that the tingling is happening if he suggested that. Are you not seeing any relaxed signs on your subjects? In that case I would forget aiming for the full whack in the meantime. You may want to practise progressive relaation over and over untill you can see clearly that your subjects are very relaxed. Don't forget, relaxing them is NOT hypnosis. But it is the first stage in getting there if its done in the usual way. As a beginner you are best of getting that under your belt. I do suggest that you don't practise on family members. For some reason, many seem to have difficulties with people that they are familiar with. You are best of with friends or complete strangers. Tho a little harder find, I know..... I didn't meant his to become a book, but hopefully it offers some help. Let me know, and good luck Aaron (rontje)

Thanks again i welcome any comments and suggestions and take on board advice given . charles Vald has been excellent helping me and advising me , i can't thank everyone enough . I have just returned from visiting a friend this afternoon and i went through the basic induction with her , afterwards i asked her to describe how she felt and she said her limbs felt very heavy with a slightly warm sensation , she could hear the everday noises around like traffic outside and people walking by but felt she didn't want to open her eyes . I felt confident while reading from my notes as with family members i was very nervous indeed . I felt i did achieve my goal with her which has given me a boost . I think i will go with your suggestion and aim to reax the clients and take it from there Please keep in touch kind regards Debbie (our-kate)

Hi Sounds like it went well :D I am not a hypnotherapist but an NLP Practitioner and would just like to back up what rontje says about the language. I feel it very important for both yourself and the client that you use positive language at all times and as rontje says the unconscious mind does not process negatives so " don't run down the path little girl " will process as "run down the path little girl " If only more parents and teachers would choose to note that and be positive in their directions with children then they would get more positive results first time! I also am less favourable of the word 'try' as it implies less effort and lack of committment. Whereas " I will do it " is a definate statement of positive purpose. I use the following test with anyone whom I hear use the word 'try' a lot: Put a pen on the table and say " [b:0b8cc80671]TRY[/b:0b8cc80671] and pick up the pen" The person will either hover their hand over the pen or actually pick it up -either way you can say to them " [b:0b8cc80671]NO[/b:0b8cc80671], I said [b:0b8cc80671]TRY[/b:0b8cc80671] and pick up the pen, you actually picked it up / didn't pick it up " Therefore 'trying' is virtually impossible!! You can either pick up the pen or not! If they are a person who is often saying " OK, I will try" then after doing this test you could say to them " OK, now decide if you are going to do it or not. If you are then say just that. I am going to do it" They are much more likely to succeed and actually do it as they have decided they will! As a parent and having worked in schools, I realise that kids need to know it has been recognised that they have made an effort even if they are not succeeding fully in something. Therefore I use expressions with them like " make a really good effort " or " give it a go " instead of try. Of course if they do the test too then they often end up saying " I will do it " and they often do"" Goodnes sounds like I have been on my soap box - I have always had a thing about language and just couldn't help jumping in on this one!!! So, Kate, you [b:0b8cc80671]WILL [/b:0b8cc80671]do well and succeed in this and sounds like your first client was well and truly under so here goes to rest of your future! :) Well done! (Purple)

Hi Purple and Debbie, very well said Purple. Here is another way of realising what the word 'try' implies. Imagine a pilot telling the passengers 'now I will try and land the plane', Can you imagine how the passengers will feel about that!!! Have a nice weekend, Aaron (rontje)

Looking good :) , keep us updated. All the best Charles (charles vald)
'now I will try and land the plane', Can you imagine how the passengers will feel about that!!!
Well, I tell you what, if the pilot said that when I was on his / her plane I would be having a damn good [b:98559d07e3]TRY[/b:98559d07e3] at landing the plane myself!!!!!             (Purple)

Hi Everyone All is going good , thanks to you all for your help and support. I am finding my own way of doing things that works well for both me and client . Like i said before i am working on what i am used to and what i know works well for me and so far it's a success ( thanks to Charles ). This is only the beginning and i still need plenty of practise and help but i think with patience i will achieve my goal . Take care all Debbie :D (our-kate)
