Weight Loss through Hypnosis

As some of you might be aware I do not sell a weight loss hypnosis CD, instead I sell a CD to stop snacking on junk food. http://www.hypnosishealthcare.com/healthyeating.html My concern with a weight loss CD is focused at people who suffer from Anorexia. Just wondered what other peoples thoughts are?I like your idea here Charles, but not quite sure I understand your concern. Do you mean that someone with anorexia might get hold of your weight loss cd and cause themselves further detriment? Anorexia is an aversion to food. There is no problem with an anorexic starving themselves as they see food as something that contaminates them, unlike the comfort eater, or the overweight person who cannot *stop* eating. But before I get too carried away, I may have misunderstood your concern, so I'll await your reply on that bit. Perhaps you want to make losing weight *unappealing* for anorexic individuals. Anyway, I'll stop guessing :lol I'm never happy with the term 'weight loss' anyway because loss indicates something on a subconsious level that none of us want - we don't want to lose our purse, our keys, our job, our loved ones. In all these instances we seek to find or replace what we have lost. How can this powerful subconsious programming be any different for weight? wingsoflove (wingsoflove)

My concern is as you said if they used one of these CDs to make things even worse. There are many forms of this condition and I would feel horrible if someone who was already underweight but perceived themselves as overweight used such a CD to make their distain of food worse. (charles vald)

I can see your concern Charles - hadn't ever thought of that though to be honest so you have sturred my thoughts! Wingsoflove I also have never thought of the term loss regarding weight in the way you say either and I aggree with you. What word/s do you tend to use instead out of interest? (Purple)

I see where you are coming from Charles, but surely this is just the tip of an iceberg. If I might play devils advocate for a moment, a religious, fanatical, cult leader might get hold of one of your 'self confidence' cds, or a parent might play the 'send your child to sleep in 10 minutes' cd in the car to soothe their restless babe. Hypnotherapy is like most other things in life - used properly it can have wonderful benefits. Misused it can cause problems. Same with drugs - one paracetamol (which are readily available to anyone) might cure a headache, but if you go home and take 96 you might not make it through the night. Yes, there are many forms of anorexia, but the bottom line is that they don't *want* to eat anyway - they really don't need a cd to convince them of this fact; you can't get much more disdain for food than an anorexic naturally has. You must follow your heart Charles..... wingsoflove (wingsoflove)

Management feels a nice 'in control', but not too dogmatic word....... wingsoflove (wingsoflove)

Oh I wasn't considering wether or not you were a therapist - I am always careful about what words I use in most circumstances and was just interested to know if there were another term you used if the topic ever came up in conversation - yep, I think management sounds good - you and Charles and spurred my thoughts on this one!! Thanks, needed some stimulation of late! (Purple)

I would hesitate to say all anorexics hate, dislike or have disdain for food. It's all about control and the reasons for that are many. There's not much control in not eating something you dislike. The control is in not indulging in something you like to do or that others know you should do. In fact the reverse may be true. They may LOVE food. It's the reason so many have careers in the food/nutrition industry. As for a CD Charles...why not something that suggests healthy appetite that is appeased with healthy nutrition....visualizing a healthy, well-nourished body....with well-hydrated skin, shiny hair, toned, developed muscles...even suggesting Essential Fatty Acids. A CD that would help an overweight person and would also benefit someone with anorexia, although I doubt they'd continue listening. Just a thought. You have much more experience than I do. (And I have to get to work! I told you I'm getting hooked on this forum!) (mindweavers)

Let me first start I have used no hypnosis sublliminal messages to get you hooked on this forum :) but I am happy that you are. My stop snacking CD does actually follow a lot of what you stated, replacing junk snacks with healthy fruit snacks. You see my mum is a dietician so I give the customer lots of links about healthy eating. On ebay a certain person who I won't mention by name made a lot of money by selling their hypnosis weight loss cd in the clothes size (UK size) 16-18 18-20 20-22 section, it took a long time before ebay stopped it. [quote:4e1a6e625f="mindweavers"]I would hesitate to say all anorexics hate, dislike or have disdain for food. [/quote:4e1a6e625f] I guess I was refering to a disdain for the food going into their own body's - not a disdain per se. Only my perception / opinion though and I guess I didn't word it that thoughtfully  wingsoflove (wingsoflove)

over the past year I have used Paul McKenna's weight loss CD ( hate the real title) and found it helpful. I've lost a lot of weight over past 3 years, not because I am fixated by my siz, but to help my health. I don't have a junk food habit but would still like to find support to stick with healthy eating, as I don't 'diet' as such. I find much of what is produced by the diet industry repugnant, and hugely negative. I support the Early Day Motion to regulate the diet industry, which sadly didn't get through. :( - Katya (blue-kat)

I thought the EC has something planned. (charles vald)

I hate the title of Paul McKenna's CD. The word 'THIN' puts all sorts of images in one's mind and does not portray to me 'health' but take away the title and it is a diferent matter. Well done you on your attitude of healthy eating and maintaining it. I do not like the word diet either. And as much as I have not used it and have explained to her why my 15 yr old daughter talks of dieting a lot :( I struggle with my weight and have done for most of my life, maintaining a healthy lifestyle has been the most difficult bit for me as I have had bouts of depression and I have extreme mood swings now in the menopause. Unfortunately my tendancy has been to comfort eat, a lot! (Purple)

hi again Purple :) 'I can make you thin' is horrible trashy title. as you say 'thin' doesn't have, to my mind, the sutiable connotations. I don't want to to underweight and weedy ! there's so much societal pressure about appearance it's a struggle to bring up kids without them being negatively effected by the excessive thin culture. sorry to hear of your difficulties, are you having any treatment and support? I have found avoiding blood sugar rollercoaster has helped my mood and erm...behaviour  I think comfort eating has a bad reputation. Of all the substances we could turn to when dreadful feelings become overwhelming, chocolate biscuits etc aren't that eveil  bests - Katya (blue-kat)
