Buckwheat hulls is a member of the rhubarb family, allergies to buckwheat is extremely rare.
The husks are loose within the Zafu, allowing you to remove some to adjust your height. Liners can crease inside making them less comfortable. Should you wish to fit a liner. A nylon stocking could be used.
These Zafu's are made by the women in the ROKPA Workshops Nepal.

"Rokpa" is the Tibetan word for "to help" or "to serve".
ROKPA INTERNATIONAL is a charity that was founded in 1980 by its President Dr. Akong Tulka Rinpoche, a Tibetan meditation master and doctor and by Ms. Lea Wyler, its Vice-President, a Swiss actress, together with her father, the well-known Swiss lawyer, Dr. Veit Wyler.

As women have a lower social status in Nepal, and they are often dependent and repressed. Since they are married at a very early age and have children, they are therefore excluded from educational opportunities.
They are often abandoned by their husbands, having given birth to a large number of children.
In this situation they are rarely able to support themselves and their children.
Since 1996 ROKPA have been offering apprenticeships for women. They are taught to design and sew clothes as well as other useful articles, which they will later sell. Throughout these courses the women are financially supported by ROKPA.
These cushion covers are bought by us from Rokpa. We fill and then sell them to you.
